PLANSWIFT MANUAL MANUAL
So if I have (20) 15.5 sqft doors I'll just enter 20*15.5 in the appropriate manual subtract field and it will count it out for me. I do my wall takeoffs then I have count items for various door/window sizes which gives me my count for those items and gives me my count for my manual subtract. I believe there is a way to do this (nest takeoff items under other takeoff items and link them via formula) I just haven't bothered.
PLANSWIFT MANUAL HOW TO
Hopefully then I'd also be able to figure out how to use these see same "sized" count takeoffs for areas to be painted (doors, casings, sills etc.) These counts would basically be "cutouts" from the wall area takeoff.

What I was hoping to do was to do a "wall area" linear takeoff and then using count takeoffs (with the sizes setup in advanced properties) to mark windows and doors. I'm sure everything I just typed out was overwhelming but play around with some duplicate properties and don't be afraid to screw up it takes some time, but planswift is an incredibly capable program once you get a grasp of how to create properties and formula's to simplify your takeoff process. Now whenever you enter a manual subtract value it will subtract it from the wall area. basically you just add where you want it.įor example if you use the painting sample templates you would change the Qty Formula FROM TO. This is where there can be some variation, I add it to materials and labor that I have nested in my takeoff item so I don't include the Manual Subtract formula at the takeoff level. I'll try to explain this in a way to help because it is extremely easy once you know how to do it.ġ) go to the templates tab and create a duplicate of the takeoff item/assembly you're going to edit (in case you screw up and can't fix it)Ģ) open the properties of the takeoff item/assembly and go to the advanced tabģ) in the top left of the advanced tab you will see a little but when you hover your mouse cursor over it the tool tip should say "add property" - Click itĤ) Name your property "manual subtract" (no quotation marks just the words) make sure it is a number type (the field directly below name)ĥ) Click ok - You have now created a new property I'm not sure how to go about adding an item in properties to make this work but thanks, I'll do some looking around to see if I can figure it out.
